No matter how hard I try, I simply cannot imagine the hardship the Lebanese people are going through. The strength of their character to carry on in their country under so much fear is remarkable. I wonder sometimes how the ‘softened’ countries who suck U.S. ass would cope if put under the same pressure Lebanon is facing just now (or indeed Iraq, Afghanistan etc). Maybe if these leaders really were capable of emotion they would put a stop to all of this. I can’t see any way it will ever get better in our lifetime. Even with a different President of the U.S.

I thought that surely after Iraq had turned into such a farce that this madness would stop. Instead it’s escalating rapidly and who knows where we are headed.

When a populace elect political leaders whose loyalty lies not with their country, but with an organization that does not make distinction between soldier and civilian, they become the architects of their own destruction.

Hezbollah has a political agenda that may serve the Shiite population in the middle east, and they view all the civilians as tools to that end. If the Arab people want security, the best thing they can do is to unite to eliminate the extremist elements in their midst.

That being said, the justification for Israel’s targetting of civilians is absurd. Collective punishment is only benefitting Hezbollah’s recruitment campaign.

Just to be persnickety, it should be pointed out that this particular incident had nothing to do with white phosphorous. Not to minimize the horror of Israel targeting civilians, but I think the title is misleading; Israel is using WP, and targeting civilians including children, but this article dealt only with the latter.

WP purpose is to cause injuries and overwhelm medical facilities.
